TRAVEL GUIDE

Saint-François and Guadeloupe

Our concierge’s selection of what to do, where to eat, and how to make the most of the archipelago. All activities can be organised on your behalf.

Saint-François & the estate vicinity

Anse Champagne beach

A five-minute walk from the estate. White sand, calm water, natural shade. The right beach for a morning swim.

Kitesurfing & wing foil

Saint-François is one of the top spots in the Caribbean for wind sports. Several schools operate from the lagoon shore.

Marina

The marina is 5 minutes from the estate. Boat hire, catamaran day trips, fishing charters — all available directly from the pontoon.

Golf, 18 holes

The Robert Trent Jones course borders the lagoon, 5 minutes away. Permanent trade winds, open views. Golf carts available.

Town centre

Market, bakeries, local restaurants, supermarket. Everything within walking distance of the estate gate.

Restaurants

Le Colombo

Saint-François

The most reliable address in town. Creole cuisine, fresh fish, covered terrace. Book ahead in season.

Le Zagaya

Saint-François

Inventive local cooking in a relaxed setting. Good for a long lunch.

Le Mabouya

Saint-François

Family-run, straightforward menu, grilled fish and accras. A local favourite.

L'Autre Version

Saint-François

More refined than the others, slightly higher prices, worth it for a special evening.

Le Balaou

Saint-François marina

On the waterfront, seafood-focused, relaxed atmosphere. Good choice after a boat trip.

Grande-Terre

La Désirade

An hour by catamaran. One of the last preserved islands of Guadeloupe — iguanas, deserted beaches, the end of the world feeling.

Pointe des Châteaux

20 minutes east. The easternmost tip of the archipelago, rocky coastline, Atlantic swell. Dramatic landscape.

Saint-François market (Saturday)

The best local market in Grande-Terre. Fish, spices, rum, tropical fruit.

Basse-Terre

Guadeloupe National Park

Rainforest, volcanic trails, waterfalls. La Soufrière volcano (1,467 m) is accessible from Basse-Basse-Terre. 1.5 hours by road.

Chutes du Carbet

Three cascading waterfalls in the heart of the forest. One of the most visited natural sites in the Caribbean.

Grande Anse beach

A broad arc of golden sand on the west coast. Protected from the trade winds, sheltered swimming.

The outer islands

Les Saintes

A 1.5-hour catamaran from Saint-François. Two islands, a colonial-era fort, turquoise lagoon. Day trips available from the marina.

Marie-Galante

Flat, green, authentic. Sugar mills, rum distilleries, deserted beaches. A slower pace than the main island.

Petite-Terre

A nature reserve 30 minutes offshore. Sea turtles, iguanas, pristine reef. Day trips with licensed guides only.
